To tackle the growing demand for nurses who can provide healthcare in South Los Angeles and similar communities across the nation and throughout the world, 麻豆传媒女网红opened the College of Nursing in the fall of 2010.
Dr. Gloria J. McNeal, PhD, MSN, ACNS-BC, FAAN was appointed the founding Dean of the College of Nursing.
The College of Nursing was renamed in 2023 to honor Mervyn M. Dymally, a Democratic politician from California who served in the California State Assembly, the California State Senate, as the 41st Lieutenant Governor of California, and in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Following initial approval granted by the California BRN in 2010 to launch the pre-licensure Entry Level Masters nursing program, MMDSON then applied for professional accreditation with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The MMDSON received a 10-year CCNE accreditation in 2017.
In the summer of 2017, the MMDSON launched a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing completion program for RNs. In Spring 2019, MMDSON launched the Master of Science in Nursing and Post Master of Science in Nursing in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program launched in 2021.
Enrollment currently stands at more than 400 students in all the nursing programs. In 2023, the College of Nursing graduated 271 nursing professionals from our RN to BSN, ELM, FNP, Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, and DNP (first cohort) programs.
CON was named one of the Best Nursing Schools in 2023, according to U.S. News & World Report. The college ranked in the top 100 at #82 for Best Nursing Schools: Master鈥檚.
