10th Annual President’s Breakfast

The 麻豆传媒女网红President鈥檚 Breakfast brings together leaders and innovators to discuss pressing issues impacting our communities.

This year’s theme, “Health Disparities: Are We Better Now?” will explore progress and challenges in addressing disparities in healthcare access, outcomes, and equity.

The 麻豆传媒女网红President鈥檚 Breakfast will not only provide a platform for thought-provoking discussions but also an opportunity for networking and collaboration among professionals committed to making a positive impact in the realm of health equity and social justice.

Panelists

Paula Braveman, MD, MPH

Paula Braveman is Professor Emeritus of Family and Community Medicine and Founding Director of the Center for Health Equity at the University of California, San Francisco. For nearly 40 years, Dr. Braveman has published extensively on health equity and its social and structural determinants, including racism, and has brought attention to these issues in the U.S. and internationally. During the 1990s she collaborated with WHO staff in Geneva to develop a global initiative on equity in health and health care. She was the research director for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation鈥檚 commission on the social determinants of health in the U.S. She has published extensively on the role of racism in maternal and infant health. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with local, state, federal, and international agencies to see rigorous research translated into practice with the goal of achieving greater health equity. She was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2002. Her book 鈥溾 was recently published by Oxford University Press.

David Hayes-Bautista, PhD

David Hayes-Bautista is Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center for the Study of
Latino Health and Culture at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. He graduated from UC Berkeley in 1970, served as
founding executive director of La Cl铆nica de la Raza in Oakland, CA and completed his PhD in basic
sciences at UCSF in 1974. Dr. Hayes-Bautista’s research focuses on the impact of racial narratives on research design and
methods, especially the use of the six OMB race/ethnic categories in researching health outcomes in
multiracial California. For the past six years, his group has also produced the US Latino GDP, which was the 5th largest economy in the world in 2021. Dr. Hayes-Bautista is the editor of “.”
