Public Health Professions Pathways Program (PHPP)
The Â鶹´«Ã½Å®ÍøºìPHPP Program aims to support historically underrepresented students in pursuing careers in Public Health. PHPP focuses on comprehensive academic enrichment, career development, mentorship, and advising to support students from underrepresented communities and disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue health careers. Participation in the pipeline program will lead to entering a health professions school or beginning employment in a health career.
Students participate in paid summer internships for high school or college students in community health centers, public health departments, public behavioral health settings, geriatric providers, and community-based initiatives that promote health equity.

- Rising 11th and 12th grade high school students
- 1st-3rd Year Â鶹´«Ã½Å®Íøºìundergraduate students
- 1st Year Â鶹´«Ã½Å®ÍøºìMaster of Public Health
- (MPH) students

Â鶹´«Ã½Å®Íøºì3-Year Bachelor Program
Program Description
CDU’s 3-Year Bachelor Program, in partnership with Dominguez High School and Compton Community College, is designed to empower rising juniors at Dominguez High school with a unique path to careers in healthcare professions such as Doctors, Nurses, Physician Assistants, and more. Through an early start to college experience that is cost-effective, supported by an array of resources, and within a nurturing community, CDU’s 3-Year Bachelor Program seeks to significantly increase the number of students from diverse backgrounds entering the healthcare field.
Program Overview:
- During High School – Students take 8 terms of College Coursework while in High School (Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring – Jr. and Sr. Years)
- Post High School graduation – Students spend 1 year at Compton College to earn an Associate degree in General Studies: Social and Behavioral Sciences.
- Upon completion of the associate degree – Students transfer to Charles R. Drew University of Â鶹´«Ã½Å®Íøºì to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Psychology, or Public Health within 2 years.

- Recruitment – Rising Juniors (graduating 10th grade)
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
- Counselor Approval

- COLLEGE READINESS programming and ADVISING for participants while in high school
- TUTORING and MENTORING for participants while in high school
- WORKSHOPS on Educational Pathways and Careers in Health Professions
- Field Trips
- Textbook stipends for each cohort while attending Compton College
