Charles R. Drew University鈥檚 Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Residency Program began with its inaugural cohort on July 1, 2024. This was an exciting chapter of our institution鈥檚 history and we look forward to continuing the story in the years to come with committed and passionate trainees. About ACGME Accreditation
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) sets the gold standard for accrediting medical residency programs in the United States. Accreditation by the ACGME is a testament to our commitment to providing a comprehensive and excellent PM&R training experience to our residents.
Mission Statement
The Charles Drew University (CDU) PM&R Residency Program is formed for the following purpose: to develop and train highly knowledgeable, clinically competent, culturally sensitive physiatrists, by cultivating diverse health professional leaders who are dedicated to social justice and health equity for underserved populations through outstanding education, research, clinical service, and community engagement.
Program Aims
- For all of its trainees, 麻豆传媒女网红provides a unique educational experience summed up in the “麻豆传媒女网红Advantage”, a set of institutional learning objectives based on five pillars – research, social justice, international exposure, community-based experiences, and health policy.
- The program rotations feature in patient-centered, team-based health care of under-resourced patients.
- The primary training site, Long Beach VA Hospital, is uniquely positioned to prepare residents for the future of Physiatry by providing unique diverse clinical experiences in the inpatient and outpatient setting. An affiliated site will include Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, rated the best pediatric hospital in California, for their non surgical, pediatric rehabilitation exposure such as Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Sports Medicine, and Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
- All Physiatry residents in the program will complete 36 months of complex musculoskeletal and neurorehabilitation outpatient, adult and pediatric, clinics and inpatient rehabilitation units.
- Residents will participate in longitudinal research training over the course of the program, with emphasis on elimination of health disparities, and community-engaged health equity research.
- Faculty at 麻豆传媒女网红are chosen for their commitment to social justice and health equity; there is substantial investment in faculty retention activities, including faculty development, recognition, and promotion.
